I'm a sociologist and Lecturer in Quantitative Social Research in the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds.
My research interests centre on the social and political consequences of spatial inequality, understood as the unequal division of opportunities and risks between different localities within a country. I investigate how local occupational structures have evolved over time, and how and why this and other dimensions of spatial inequality shape social stratification in the labour market, inequality beliefs, and political behaviour.
I hold a PhD in Social and Political Sciences from the European University Institute. Prior to commencing my PhD, I worked in education, employment and skills policy in the United Kingdom.
After completing my doctoral studies, I was a Junior Lecturer within Centre LIVES and the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lausanne, and then a Presidential Fellow at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI), Stockholm University, where I remain affiliated.
